The FB4 DMX output can be setup to act as a DMX output for DMX levels created by Beyond. There is a catch though – your laser must be enabled and Beyond must be set to ‘Enable Laser Output’. The reason behind this is that Pangolin really intend this feature for passing DMX to a laser fixtures DMX input, but actually you can use it for any DMX devices if you can live with your laser being output enabled.
DMX Setup
General DMX setup
Menu > Settings > DMX > DMX/ArtNet Settings
Connection Tab
DMX Output #
Set its ‘Media’ column to ‘Beyond FB4 Stream’
Output option tab
Set the default rule you want to use (HTP is generally the right choice as LTP will get used selectively for moving lights)
FB4 config
Check the FB4 settings.ini file has the serial_mode=4 setting
It may be set to a default of “1” or it not be listed at all in which case you can just add this to the end of the list of setttings: “serial_mode=4”.
Configuring the FB4 to output DMX in Beyond
Menu > Settings > Projector Settings
‘FB4 Serial Port DMX’ tab
Enable it, select the start channel and number of channels to send
NOTE – The FB4 re-patches the DMX output. It will send whatever channel you set as the “Base address” as DMX channel 1 from the FB4 output.
